About Agri Drain

Dear Land Improvement & Water Management Professionals,

A 50+ year study of specific causes for corn and soybean yield loss in Iowa by Dr. Chad Hart of Iowa State University revealed some amazing statistics (see charts below).

Dr. Hart’s research, based on federal crop insurance payments, indicates that over ⅔ of corn yield loss and over ½ of soybean yield loss is directly related to excess precipitation or drought. Often, both situations occur in a single year with a wet spring and dry summer. Experts tell us that we should expect greater variability in rainfall rates and timing in the future, so the situation could potentially get worse.

It seems to me that a subsurface drainage water management system capable of removing excess water, storing water when its available, and adding water back into the system to sub-irrigate is a great way for landowners to weatherize their fields and dramatically reduce risk.

Please feel free to contact us for more information on drainage water management and sub-irrigation system site selection, design, and the equipment we have available to make the systems work.

As always, if we do a good job for you, please tell your buddies. If we don't, please tell me or one of my partners (Kim, Lisa, Mark) so we can make it right.

At your service,

Charlie Schafer
